cordially request your nominations in one or more of the
following categories. Please explain briefly the reason for your
nomination.
Player of the Year Award
This award recognizes an individual who has
been successful in tournaments and/ or league play over the
course of the past season (Oct -May). Local, regional, and
national competitive success should be considered. Junior
through master players are eligible.
Dick Daly Service Award
Dick Daly began playing squash at the age
of 15. Shortly after moving to Seattle in 1965, Dick helped
organize the Seattle Squash Racquets Association. Over many
years, Dick has served many roles in the SSRA including
President, Vice-president, and Secretary. Dick and his wife Mary
edited the newsletter for close to twenty years. Dick's
accomplishments on the court are many including at least
fourteen national titles (both softball and hardball), playing
in the main draw at the British Open (55+ age group). Dick and
his wife Mary currently live in Arizona. When in Seattle, Dick
can be found running his opponent around on the court and still
attending SSRA meetings. This award recognizes the selfless
commitment of an individual to the local squash community.
Brenda Wilcox Sportsmanship
Award
Brenda Wilcox was an active player for many
years at the Seattle Athletic Club Downtown. Brenda's
friendliness and sense of humor touched everyone who came into
contact with her. She was never too busy to hit and encourage
players who were beginning to learn squash. She loved
competition, was a gracious winner and a gracious loser. This
award honors the memory of Brenda and recognizes an individual
who represents the principles of fair play and sportsmanship
both on and off the court.
